How to prepare Nigerian Nkwobi

Nkwobi is a spicy dish made from cows or goat foot. And since time immemorial, the meal has been associated with the Igbo tribe, but nowadays it has become so popular among the Nigerians. Unlike other popular dishes that you may find in most restaurants, Nkwobi is only available on exclusive hotels. The delicacy is highly nutritious and known to offer amazing health benefits to the body.

To prepare your Nkwobi, here is what you need

  1. One goat limb or 2 kgs of cow meat
  2. Akanwu (a small ground potash piece)
  3. Two onions medium sized
  4. Seasoning cube
  5. Utazi
  6. Palm oil 125 ml
  7. Ground crayfish
  8. Hot chili pepper 1 tbsp.
  9. Salt

How to prepare

  1. Remove the goat hoof and wash it thoroughly with warm water
  2. Cut your meat into small sizeable pieces
  3. Wash the meat again and put it in a pot
  4. Season it moderately and bring it to boil for 50 minutes until tender
  5. Transfer your meat in a bowl together with the stock
  6. Boil one cup of water
  7. Mix your ground crayfish, salt, pepper and seasoning cube in a separate bowl. Pour your warm water and mix properly
  8. Put your palm oil in a cooking pan and slightly heat it
  9. Add your potash and simmer it for about a minute
  10. Using a cooking stick, stir perfectly well till you attain a thick mash
  11. Put some water and your mixture you had prepared in number 7 and simmer it for about 3 to 4 minutes
  12. Transfer your cooked goat meat in a large bowl and pour your sauce when hot.
  13. Garnish it with pepper, sliced onions and your utazi leaves.
  14. Goes well with chilled soybean drink or kunu
